Press and Information Officer – EU Delegation, New Zealand

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Wellington is looking for a Press and Information Officer to support its Political, Press and Information Section. The role involves enhancing the EU’s visibility in New Zealand, managing media relations and coordinating public‑diplomacy activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies that raise the EU’s profile in New Zealand.
• Organise events, public‑diplomacy activities and official visits of the Head of Delegation and EU Member State representatives.
• Plan, manage and report on media‑related initiatives, including press conferences, press releases and social‑media content.
• Edit and oversee publications produced by the Delegation.
• Maintain and update the Delegation’s website and social‑media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Liaise with educational and academic institutions and act as the contact point for the EU‑New Zealand parliamentary friendship group.
• Coordinate the European Union Visitors’ Programme and related logistical arrangements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in press, media relations or public‑diplomacy.
• Strong organisational skills for event planning and visit coordination.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and handle occasional atypical working hours.
• Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of additional EU languages is an advantage.
