Operations Specialist – Payments Operations

About the role

As an Operations Specialist in the Payments Operations team at ANZ, you will ensure the integrity of payment processing by handling exceptions that arise from ISO 20022 Hybrid Address requirements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to review, repair and release payments that cannot be processed straight‑through, supporting the bank’s commitment to reliable and compliant transaction services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily reconciliations to verify payment flows and office account usage.
• Investigate and repair cross‑border payment instructions that fail Straight Through Processing due to incomplete or non‑compliant address data.
• Apply ISO 20022 Hybrid Address standards and internal processing rules when assessing and correcting transactions.
• Validate, enrich and correct payment data to enable successful processing.
• Manage operational queues within service‑level expectations and ensure timely resolution of payment exceptions.
• Identify recurring exception trends, escalate issues and work with stakeholders to improve data quality.

Required profile

• Experience in payments operations, banking operations or transaction processing.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage operational queues in a fast‑paced environment.
• Understanding of SWIFT and ISO 20022 payment standards (training provided if needed).
