MES Engineer – Manufacturing Execution Systems

About the role

The MES Engineer will design, implement and support Manufacturing Execution System solutions for our customers. You will translate user requirements into scalable, traceable MES architectures and ensure successful project delivery across New Zealand and overseas sites.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and translate user/customer requirements into detailed MES specifications.
• Define project scope, financials and contribute to quoting and budgeting.
• Architect MES solutions that integrate with ERP systems and plant automation equipment.
• Develop detailed designs, interface specifications, data models, UI designs and configure hardware/software.
• Perform development, testing (UAT, SAT, FAT) and deployment including server setup, installation and user training.
• Apply Agile or Waterfall project‑management methodologies and conduct gap analysis, ROI justification.
• Provide on‑call support, troubleshoot hardware/software issues and mentor junior staff.
• Build and maintain relationships with industry partners to promote the brand and generate revenue.

Required profile

• 5+ years of MES engineering experience, including at least 3 years in New Zealand.
• Proven ability to design complex data‑capture workflows and integrate MES components.
• Experience managing full project lifecycles from scope definition to commissioning.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and overseas and participate in on‑call rotations.
