Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a strong Maintenance Technician to join our state-of-the-art production facility in Balclutha. Reporting to the Technical Lead, you will own maintenance activities, train staff, manage spare parts and support projects that improve plant capability and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Maintain accurate records in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and book parts.
• Assist the Maintenance Planner and Technical Lead in executing and tracking the maintenance plan.
• Coordinate engineering and electrical contractors to maximise uptime and control costs.
• Train production staff in basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication and centre lining.
• Analyse spare-part criticality, procure parts and optimise preventive maintenance for critical assets.
• Identify equipment failure modes and support periodic review of the PM plan.
• Lead troubleshooting of complex issues and support rollout of new technology for condition monitoring.
• Contribute to a zero-harm workplace through active participation in health and safety programs.

Required profile

• Trade Certificate (Advanced trade preferred); experience in the dairy industry is advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding ability and capacity to work and make decisions independently.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; team-oriented.
• Ability to produce sketches or drawings for plant improvements and repairs.
• Experience with writing SOP documents.
