Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Alliance is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join the Nelson plant. The role is essential for keeping plant equipment running safely and efficiently, supporting the company’s premium grass‑fed meat production.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high Health & Safety standards at all times.
• Install, maintain, and support plant and operational equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly and resolve them efficiently.
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly checks and servicing.
• Plan and execute reactive and preventative maintenance activities.
• Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to minimise downtime.
• Diagnose faults, determine root causes and repair or replace faulty components.
• Support engineering stores management.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 4 Engineering qualification.
• Hands‑on experience in fitting, machining and/or welding.
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
• Effective problem‑solving and innovative thinking.
• Good documentation and record‑keeping abilities.
• Flexibility to work a rotating 45‑hour shift roster.
• Experience in food production or manufacturing (preferred).
• Electrical qualification is an advantage.
