Intake & Assessment Clinician - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team

About the role

Wellington CAMHS is recruiting an Intake, Triage and Assessment Clinician (Social Worker, Nurse or Occupational Therapist) to help young people and their whānau access mental health care. The position is permanent and full time (1 FTE); part-time intake work alongside a clinical role may also be considered. The salary is set by the Meca scale according to experience: Allied $79,014-$110,290 per year, Nursing $77,667-$109,407 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Screen referrals and conduct mental health assessments with young people aged 0-17 and their families.
• Provide timely crisis response so urgent needs are met.
• Facilitate access to a wide range of mental health and addiction services.
• Collaborate with the team, GPs, other mental health and addiction teams and community providers.
• Ensure care is safe, high quality and equitable for every young person and their whānau.

Required profile

• Registered mental health professional (Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker).
• 5+ years of district mental health experience.
• Current practicing certificate.
• Experience in a bi-cultural and multi-cultural practice and a community-focused approach.

Required skills

• Assessments, risk evaluation and crisis response.
• Confident working in a team and independently.
