Consultant Radiologist – Wellington Hospital

About the role

The Radiology service at Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital is expanding to meet rising demand and deliver on national health targets, having increased its Consultant/Senior Medical Officer FTE. The service is also introducing Photon Counting CT scanners, which will improve cardiac, neuro, vascular and paediatric diagnostics. The position is full-time or part-time, permanent or fixed-term, paid according to the ASMS SECA scale.

Key responsibilities

• Report and supervise imaging lists (e.g. CT, MRI, ultrasound)
• Take part in fluoroscopy procedures as appropriate to the specialty
• Lead and contribute to clinical meetings and MDMs, and liaise with referring clinicians
• Teach and supervise radiology trainees (RANZCR years 1-5)
• Work the diagnostic radiology on-call roster as appropriate

Required profile

• Vocational registration in Radiology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
• FRANZCR or equivalent qualification, able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
• Interest in cardio-thoracic, cardiac imaging or other areas such as paediatrics, breast or interventional neuro radiology is highly valued
• Able to teach and support radiology registrars, registrars from other services and medical students
• Collegial working relationships with multi-disciplinary teams
