Indirect Tax Director

About the role

PwC New Zealand is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Director to lead its GST advisory practice in Auckland. You will work with some of the country’s largest organisations, providing strategic advice on complex GST and indirect tax matters across cross‑border, property, financial and restructuring transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the analysis, research and application of tax legislation to complex GST client issues.
• Deliver pragmatic, commercially‑focused written and verbal advice to senior client stakeholders.
• Provide specialist technical input on indirect tax reviews and compliance assignments.
• Engage with clients to understand business challenges and develop tailored solutions.
• Liaise with other PwC service lines to ensure a seamless client experience.
• Contribute to indirect tax law reform initiatives and maintain relationships with policy officials.
• Build the PwC brand by identifying and pursuing business development opportunities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in indirect tax, specifically GST advisory, within a professional services environment.
• Proven leadership ability at Director level, with a track record of managing complex technical and transaction work.
• Strong client‑facing skills and experience developing senior‑level relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to influence tax policy and contribute to practice growth.
