Heavy Machine Operator

About the role

Stellar Recruitment is recruiting experienced machine operators for civil construction projects in the Manawatu region, as the Wellington civil construction sector is expected to be very active at the end of 2026. The operator works on a variety of projects and must be able to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently, and also carry out manual work with a shovel when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in construction or civil works.
• Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, rollers and dump trucks.
• Full clean Class 1 and 2 licence with WTR (Class 4 would be advantageous).
• Willingness to work on the tools and in the trenches when required.
• Drug-free: pre-employment, reasonable cause, post-incident and random testing.

Required skills

• Operating heavy machinery (excavators, bulldozers, rollers, dump trucks).
• Competence with health and safety procedures.
• Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
