Geotechnical Team Leader / Manager (Auckland)

About the role

Kirk Roberts Consulting is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Team Leader or Manager to head its Auckland operations. You will drive regional capability, provide technical leadership, and shape the future direction of geotechnical services across the Golden Triangle while staying actively involved in project delivery and client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of geotechnical investigations, assessments, designs, and reports for residential, commercial, and land‑development projects.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, councils, and multidisciplinary teams from investigation through project completion.
• Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Support business development, client growth, and strategic direction of the geotechnical discipline.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high technical standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent, specialised in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including at least 5 years in New Zealand.
• CPEng accreditation (essential).
• Proven ability to build trusted client relationships and identify business opportunities.
• Strong commercial mindset and leadership experience.
