Extrusions Operator – Night Shift

About the role

This is a full‑time night‑shift position (Monday‑Friday, 10:45 pm – 7:00 am) based in Avondale, Auckland. The operator will support the extrusions manufacturing team by following safe‑working practices, meeting production schedules and ensuring product specifications are met.

Key responsibilities

• Set up production lines, tooling and ancillary equipment to run extruders at optimal conditions.
• Implement the shift’s production plan as set by the team leader or master scheduler.
• Maintain correct process conditions to achieve target machine speed, uptime, recovery and consistent quality.
• Identify and suggest continuous‑improvement actions for equipment, systems and documentation.
• Troubleshoot process issues, escalating when resolution exceeds set time frames.
• Provide task‑specific training to team members and review plant processes and procedures.
• Ensure safe and timely tool changes and proper storage of tooling according to company procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Plastics Technician.
• Effective communication and decision‑making abilities.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and ERP systems.
• Forklift licence (advantageous).
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Excel.
• Methodical approach to troubleshooting with high attention to detail.
