Maintenance Technician

About the role
We are seeking a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Technician to keep our snack manufacturing plant running safely and efficiently. The role involves preventing and diagnosing equipment issues, carrying out repairs, and responding to breakdowns in a timely manner. You will work closely with the Shift Team Leader and Engineering Lead Team.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance according to work lists and schedule, providing accurate feedback to the Maintenance Planner.
- Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns and participate in the call‑out rota when required.
- Use SAP to raise work orders, source and reserve spares, record work history, and apply correct failure codes.
- Support handovers, reporting and supervise subcontractors as needed, working closely with the shift team.
- Participate in failure review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, following OSH procedures and using appropriate PPE.
Required profile
- Level 4 Trade Certificate (current NZ EWRB Practising Licence where required).
- Experience in FMCG or process industry preferred; SAP CMMS experience advantageous.
- Competent in MS Office and general computer systems.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, environment and quality standards.
- Clear communicator with a customer‑focused mindset.
- Team player who is adaptable, proactive and uses initiative.
