Excavator and Truck Operator – Civil Construction

About the role

Professional Excavation Ltd is seeking an experienced Excavator and Truck Operator to join its growing team in New Plymouth. You will work on civil construction projects, operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently while supporting the wider crew.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators and trucks on a variety of civil construction sites.
• Perform excavation, trenching and related earth‑moving tasks.
• Maintain equipment, conduct routine checks and report any issues.
• Follow and enforce safety protocols and best practices on site.
• Collaborate with team members and, when required, lead small crews.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience operating heavy machinery in civil construction.
• Proven ability to work safely and adhere to site safety standards.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a proactive attitude toward equipment care.
• Valid driver’s licence with heavy vehicle and WTR endorsements.
• Experience with council, subdivision or infrastructure projects is a plus.
