Engineering Estimator

About the role

The Engineering Estimator will join Egmont Air’s Hawera team to provide in‑house estimating support for the company’s specialised spray‑booth, dust and fume extraction solutions. Working closely with sales, draughtsmen and on‑site consultants, the role creates accurate, design‑and‑build quotations for a diverse range of New Zealand manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quotations and proposals for client enquiries, acting as the link between sales staff and the drafter.
• Support on‑site consultants by supplying technical information and cost estimates for prospective projects.
• Provide post‑sale technical advice, maintain the customer database and manage ongoing equipment, parts and service requirements.
• Ensure high accuracy in calculations, adapt solutions to unique plant layouts and continuously seek innovative, cost‑effective designs.
• Record and report estimating data, maintain filing systems and contribute to regular performance reporting.

Required profile

• High energy, self‑motivated and capable of planning own workload.
• Understanding of HVAC airflow dynamics or a strong willingness to acquire this knowledge.
• Proven experience preparing quotation documents and technical proposals.
• Background in technical estimating within mechanical or industrial environments.
• Ability to specify products, assess machinery capacity and understand manufacturing production lines.
• Strong record‑keeping and reporting skills, confident presenting proposals to customers.
