Employee Benefits Team Lead

About the role

A senior Employee Benefits Specialist is needed to lead a small team of consultants and manage a portfolio of employee benefits clients in Auckland. The role is hybrid, with at least three days a week spent in the office, and involves shaping the client experience, supporting service delivery and contributing to the growth and retention of the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support a team of consultants, setting clear priorities and encouraging high-quality service delivery.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex client issues, complaints and revenue opportunities.
• Manage a portfolio of employee benefits clients, building trusted relationships and anticipating client needs.
• Oversee renewals, governance activities, claims management and new business implementation.
• Work with internal stakeholders to coordinate service delivery, identify growth opportunities and support business development.
• Maintain accurate records, reporting and client documentation while meeting compliance and quality standards.

Required profile

• Experience in employee benefits, insurance, broking or a related client management role.
• Proven ability to lead, coach or support a small team.
• Well-developed client relationship and account management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Nice to have: Level 5 Accreditation in Life & Health, experience managing employee benefits portfolios and renewals, and knowledge of the New Zealand life and health insurance market.
