Embedded Software Engineer – Heavy Construction Systems

About the role

Trimble is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join its heavy‑construction team in Auckland. You will help shape the software that powers off‑highway machines, working in a culture that values belonging, growth and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evaluate sophisticated software architectures for off‑highway construction equipment.
• Develop and maintain embedded software components, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and product teams to integrate software solutions.
• Adopt and expand usage of the Rust programming language within the codebase.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and debugging activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with embedded systems development and real‑time constraints.
• Strong interest in heavy‑construction or industrial automation domains.
• Ability to learn new programming languages and technologies quickly.

Required skills

• Embedded C/C++ programming.
• Rust (or willingness to learn).
• Software architecture design.
• Version control using Git.
• Understanding of real‑time operating systems and debugging tools.
