Digital Networks and Security Operations Manager

About the role

Lead the technology that keeps Tauranga City connected, secure and ready for the future. You will oversee the operation, security and continuous improvement of the Council's network and cyber‑security environments while shaping strategic direction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop high‑performing teams responsible for network and security operations.
• Ensure the resilience, performance and security of the Council’s digital infrastructure.
• Influence technology strategy, architecture and investment decisions to support long‑term organisational success.
• Manage technology risk, vendor relationships and operational service delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and operational excellence across the function.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in network, infrastructure, cyber‑security or technology operations within a complex environment.
• Strong track record of building engaged, high‑performing teams.
• Ability to balance operational demands with strategic priorities and to build trust with technical specialists, business stakeholders and senior leaders.
• Strategic mindset combined with a practical, delivery‑focused approach.
• Motivation to build modern, secure and resilient technology services for the community.
