AWS Cloud Engineer

About the role

Datacom is looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer to join its Public Cloud business. The role delivers projects and business outcomes in AWS (IaaS, PaaS and other), managing customer cloud environments and helping them transform their technology. It is an operational role with an on-call roster for after-hours support, open to any Datacom NZ office, ideally Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

Key responsibilities

• Drive operational excellence through automation, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps practices, observability, security governance and continuous service improvement.
• Lead incident and problem management, influence platform strategy, champion AI-enabled operational efficiencies and contribute to evolving cloud operating models.
• Be a trusted advisor: lead and inspire customers on cloud benefits, automation and a DevOps/DevSecOps culture, and keep environments secure and optimised.
• Act as the bridge between application technologies and customer support teams, providing enablement and guidance.

Required profile

• Experience designing, building, deploying and supporting AWS solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Ability to code Lambda functions, including Python.
• Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud designs (multi-region/zone, scalable, resilient, secure).
• Experience supporting mission-critical production environments and on-call operational leadership.
• Preferred: AWS Solutions Architect - Associate certification.

• Git and Azure DevOps; Dynatrace is a bonus
