Application Security Engineer

About the role

Join Kami’s growing security team as an Application Security Engineer, where you will not only identify vulnerabilities but also directly fix them. You’ll work hands‑on with code, libraries and cloud infrastructure to keep a platform used by millions secure.

Key responsibilities

• Use automated scanners and internal risk processes to locate defects, then remediate legacy code, update outdated libraries and eliminate technical debt.
• Collaborate with engineering pods, reviewing security posture, assisting developers in troubleshooting and removing remediation blockers.
• Draft security playbooks, coding standards and documentation to up‑skill the engineering group.
• Embed automated security tools and guardrails into the software development lifecycle for a shift‑left security model.
• Implement cloud infrastructure hardening, including firewalls, intrusion detection and encryption.
• Manage incident response automation to detect, flag and contain anomalies quickly.

Required profile

• 5‑8+ years of hands‑on experience in application security or security engineering.
• Proven track record of managing technical debt, updating third‑party dependencies and refactoring legacy components.
• Strong written communication skills for creating clear security documentation and playbooks.
• Builder mindset: enjoys digging into code and architecture to implement lasting fixes.

Required skills

• Experience with automated security scanning tools (SAST, DAST, SCA).
• Familiarity with cloud‑native architectures, containerized applications and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of OWASP application security fundamentals.
• Understanding of network configuration and application deployment.
