Support Worker - Planned Leave Cover, Tauranga

About the role

IDEA Services supports adults with intellectual disabilities to live in their own homes and take part in their communities. As a Support Worker in Tauranga, you will provide planned leave cover across several services, working a changing fortnightly roster with days, evenings, weekends and sleepovers. Experienced support workers are preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients with complex needs, manage risk and ensure their safety
• Help people recognise and respond to emotional overwhelm
• Grow independence and teach daily living skills such as using public transport, getting a job and cooking
• Help manage daily routines such as toileting, showering, dressing, taking medication and eating
• Support clients in pursuing their goals, interests and hobbies, staying healthy and building strong connections with their whānau and community

Required profile

• Previous relevant experience preferred; varied life experience and the right attitude are key
• Preferably previous caregiving or personal care experience for adults
• Calm nature and confidence working with challenging behaviour
• Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepovers
• Full New Zealand driver's licence and full right to work in New Zealand

Required skills

• Comfortable and proficient with computers and tablets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support

• $24.68 - $30.13 per hour depending on qualifications, with the ability to earn more as you gain them
