Weekend Support Worker - Tauranga

About the role

NZCL supports people with disabilities in New Zealand through its Disability Support Services. It is looking for permanent part-time Support Workers to help people in the Tauranga Residential Services, working alongside a team that provides a safe environment where people can build confidence, make friends and connect with the community. The role includes permanently rostered weekend shifts, so weekend availability is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Support people with various aspects of daily life, such as personal care, support with meals and household management tasks.
• Help people do the things they want to do, such as going swimming, and teach life skills.
• Work shifts or specific rosters providing 24/7 support, with the potential of additional sleepover payments in some rosters.

Required profile

• Passionate about helping others, kind and understanding; empathetic, respectful and culturally aware.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, including experience with disabilities and challenging behaviour.
• Full driver's licence is essential.
• Flexible to work overnight shifts across a roster, including weekends.
• NZ resident or citizen, or holds a valid NZ work permit.
