Support Worker - New Plymouth

About the role

NZCL, part of New Zealand Health Group, supports people with disabilities in New Zealand through its Disability Support Services. It is looking for permanent full-time Support Workers for its New Plymouth Residential Services. This is a leave-cover position, providing extra support when other Support Workers are away on leave. Roster flexibility and willingness to work across different locations in the New Plymouth area are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Support people with various aspects of daily life so they can do the things they want to do, such as going swimming.
• Provide personal care, support with meals and household management tasks.
• Teach life skills.
• Work shifts or specific rosters providing 24/7 support, with the possibility of additional sleepover payments in some rosters.

Required profile

• Passionate about helping others, kind and understanding.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred, including experience with disabilities and challenging behaviours.
• Full driver's licence is essential.
• Initiative, energy and respect for others' ways of living.
• Flexibility to work overnight shifts across a roster, including weekends.
• Empathy, respect and cultural awareness.
• NZ resident or citizen, or holder of a valid NZ work permit.
