Site Engineer – Electrical

About the role

Mercury is seeking a Site Engineer – Electrical to join its hydro generation team in New Zealand. The role provides hands‑on electrical engineering support for generation assets, ensuring performance, reliability and safety of the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering support to site maintenance, operations and project teams.
• Monitor and analyse asset condition, performance, risk and life expectancy.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and drive elimination of chronic defects.
• Identify, assess and manage equipment integrity threats and remedial works.
• Lead site‑based projects aimed at improving equipment performance.
• Support return‑to‑service QA/QC for complex work.
• Execute and supervise plant inspections, engineering assessments and failure investigations.
• Ensure compliance with Mercury’s Management of Change process.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong relevant engineering experience, preferably in electricity generation.
• Ability to break down complex problems into logical, pragmatic solutions.
