Shift Maintenance Engineer (4 on/4 off)

About the role

Silver Fern Farms Dargaville is seeking a motivated Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. You will help keep a large food‑production plant running smoothly while working on a 4‑on/4‑off 12‑hour rotating shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical and refrigeration equipment.
• Diagnose faults, implement effective solutions and ensure first‑time fixes.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and prioritise work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Document repairs, maintain records and communicate status to plant operators.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and share innovative ideas across the site.

Required profile

• Relevant Level 4 trades qualification (e.g., Mechanical Diagnostics, Fitter/Turner, Fitter/Welder, Automotive Engineer, LV/HD Mechanic).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a tight‑knit team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive attitude.
• Organised, able to plan workload and meet deadlines in a challenging engineering setting.
• Eagerness to learn, up‑skill and potentially expand into electrical, refrigeration or project design.
