Senior Auditor

About the role

Grant Thornton New Zealand is looking for a Senior Auditor for its Christchurch CBD office. You will work closely with experienced Managers and a Partner across a variety of industry sectors, liaising directly with clients and supervising more junior team members. The firm describes itself as a mid-sized firm with an open, honest and trusting environment that supports staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit engagements from planning to completion, ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop a detailed understanding of clients' business operations, processes and financial reporting systems.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members, and collaborate with clients on their business challenges.
• Stay updated with the latest industry regulations and standards.

Required profile

• 3-4 years of experience in external auditing.
• Strong knowledge of auditing principles, practices and standards.
• Ability to lead and manage a team of auditors.
• Professional certification such as CA or CPA is preferred.
• Solid organisation and time management, and experience managing multiple audits simultaneously.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IFRS standards.
• Proficiency in audit software and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication.
