Senior Associate – Assurance (SR&A) – Sustainability Reporting

About the role

PwC New Zealand is looking for a Senior Associate to join its Assurance – SR&A team. You will help clients understand and report the impact of sustainability on their business, supporting them to meet emerging ESG requirements and strengthen their resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Work with a variety of clients and engagement teams on sustainability reporting frameworks such as the Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards and the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise for limited and reasonable assurance engagements on sustainability reports, applying ISAE (NZ) 3000/3410 and ISSA (NZ) 5000.
• Build strong relationships with clients and PwC’s global sustainability experts.
• Monitor reporting trends and challenges, collaborating with auditors and experts to devise pragmatic solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience at a large global audit or consulting firm, focusing on greenhouse‑gas emissions and sustainability reporting.
• Strong interest in developing deep sustainability reporting expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, sustainability or a closely related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently on technical and complex matters, applying judgment where guidance is limited.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the GHG Protocol and related measurement standards.
• Familiarity with Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards.
• Familiarity with Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards.
• Understanding of ISAE (NZ) 3000/3410 assurance standards.
• Understanding of ISSA (NZ) 5000 assurance standards.
