Senior Advisor, Enterprise Communications

About the role

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is seeking a Senior Advisor to join its Enterprise Communications team. Based in Wellington or Auckland, you will shape compelling stories that connect people to complex, nationwide transport outcomes and act as a trusted communications advisor for high‑profile programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality internal and external communications for enterprise‑wide programmes and projects.
• Partner with senior leaders to develop clear, engaging narratives that illustrate the impact of transport initiatives.
• Identify and craft stories, narratives, and linkages that highlight enterprise outcomes.
• Manage communications channels, tools, and techniques across diverse audiences.
• Operate effectively in a fast‑moving, matrixed environment, providing strategic counsel on issue‑sensitive matters.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering strategic communications and engagement at a senior advisory level.
• Strong writing and editing ability, capable of simplifying complex information.
• Experience acting as a trusted advisor to senior internal stakeholders.
• Sound knowledge of internal and external communications channels and techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in matrix environments.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Willingness to build understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline.
