Real-Time Artist (Interior Visualisation)
The Boundary · Auckland
Job description
About the role
The Boundary, a digital architecture firm founded by award-winning architects, is expanding its Real-Time team and is looking for a Real-Time Artist focused on its Interiors stream. The role brings luxury residential interiors to life in real time, creating rich, atmosphere-driven environments that support architectural storytelling. It is primarily office-based in the Auckland studio in Freemans Bay, with some hybrid flexibility; applicants must be based in Auckland or ready to relocate at their own expense, and fully remote candidates are not accepted.
Key responsibilities
- Transform architectural interior concepts into interactive real-time visualisations in Unreal Engine, moving projects from raw design through modelling, lighting, scene optimisation and client presentation.
- Model, light, texture and optimise detailed 3D interior scenes, architectural details and props, balancing visual quality with technical performance.
- Deliver luxury spaces within set project timelines and budgets, working closely with the Real-Time Artist team and adapting to changing design requirements.
- Support client delivery and internal review workflows; depending on experience, receive mentorship from senior artists or help guide and support junior team members.
Required profile
- Solid proficiency in Unreal Engine and Autodesk 3ds Max, with a good understanding of real-time 3D rendering pipelines, scene optimisation and asset workflows.
- An eye for luxury interiors and lighting, including materials, camera composition and atmospheric lighting.
- Openness to emerging technology and a genuine interest in integrating AI tools and new visual pipelines.
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving and communication skills, able to self-check work and talk clearly with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Currently based in Auckland or willing to relocate at own expense; applications without a visual portfolio will not be considered.
