Senior Architectural Visualisation Artist (Freelance)

About the role

The Boundary, a digital architecture studio founded by award-winning architects, is looking for a highly experienced freelance Senior Architectural Visualisation Artist to join its Pre-Rendered Artist team based in Auckland. The role supports APAC region projects and works closely with an Executive Creative Director from the London studio. It offers up to 40 hours per week, depending on the project.

• Translate architectural design packages (drawings, schedules) into compelling visual content.
• Work remotely with the Auckland-based Executive Creative Director, with 6 hours of overlap during the core NZ business day (9:00am - 6:00pm NZST) for briefings and reviews.
• Manage the remaining production time flexibly outside those hours, meeting deadlines.

Required profile

• A comprehensive portfolio showing attention to lighting, composition and cinematic language.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings and schedules and turn them into visuals.
• Production-ready from day one, with a high-performance workstation, dual-screen setup and stable high-speed internet.
• Willingness to experiment, give and receive honest feedback in a remote setting.

Required skills

• Core ArchViz pipeline: 3ds Max and Corona or V-Ray, with excellent file hygiene.
• Traditional animation workflow, including camera animation and moving assets.
• Editing software such as After Effects and Premiere.
• Experience with Unreal Engine or AI-integrated workflows (ComfyUI/SD) is a major plus.
