Job description
About the role
The Boundary, an architectural visualisation studio founded by award-winning architects, is expanding its Real-Time team and is looking for a Real-Time Artist focused on its Exterior Digital Twin stream. The role helps turn large-scale developments, masterplans and entire destinations into interactive Digital Twins in Unreal Engine, combining artistry with technical problem-solving. It is primarily an office-based role in the Auckland studio in Freemans Bay, with some flexibility for hybrid work; applicants must be based in Auckland or ready to relocate at their own expense.
Key responsibilities
- Create accurate, visually engaging and well-optimised real-time environments from complex architectural and geospatial information, supporting design development, stakeholder engagement, marketing or sales.
- Deliver projects within agreed timelines and budgets, collaborating with the Real-Time team and adapting to evolving designs.
- Produce imagery, films and interactive experiences using the Digital Twin, applying strong lighting, composition and atmosphere.
Required profile
- Experience with Unreal Engine and real-time rendering, scene construction and optimisation.
- Proficiency in Autodesk 3ds Max or a comparable 3D package, including modelling, materials, UVs and asset preparation.
- Experience in architectural visualisation is highly valued.
- A strong sense of scale, composition, lighting, materials and atmosphere, especially for exterior architecture, landscape or masterplan environments.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, adaptability to changing designs and data, and the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with creative and technical colleagues.
What we offer
- Mental health and wellbeing support through Ignite.
- Learning and development opportunities.
- Long service leave (an extra day for every year of service).
- Monthly health and wellness allowance.
- Remote working policy.
- Regular team events and social activities, in a dog-friendly office.
