Project Manager – Infrastructure Projects (Wellington/Hamilton/Palmerston North)

About the role

Transpower is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead infrastructure projects across New Zealand’s high‑voltage transmission network. Based in Wellington, Hamilton or Palmerston North, you will own projects from planning through delivery and close‑out, ensuring safety, quality and stakeholder alignment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate asset outages to enable construction activities.
• Manage scope, programme, budget, risk and quality for projects ranging from $50k to over $100 million.
• Work closely with contractors, consultants, landowners and internal teams on‑site.
• Deliver building and grounds projects such as roof replacements, seismic strengthening, fire system upgrades, security fencing and protective coating programmes.
• Ensure all consents and regulatory requirements are met in collaboration with the Environment team.
• Support broader asset renewal programmes that advance New Zealand’s electrification goals.

Required profile

• 5+ years delivering building, construction or infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to manage complex, asset‑based environments.
• Strong focus on health and safety and understanding of relevant legislation.
• Experience working with contractors, consultants, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to travel regionally and nationally as required.
