About the role
A Defence Communication Centre, Petone (DCCP) position in Wellington seeks an Operations & Service Transition Specialist to support the delivery, transition and ongoing optimisation of end user device services. The role covers mobile devices, fixed line and secure telephony, thin clients and video conferencing, and sits at the intersection of project delivery, service transition, operational support, governance and continuous improvement. The contract is about 6 months (111 chargeable days, 833 chargeable hours), with a start date as soon as possible, subject to obtaining or transferring a clearance.
Key responsibilities
- Review and validate service transition and design artefacts so services are operationally ready, compliant and handed over to business-as-usual, including control validation and risk management.
- Develop and maintain operational and governance artefacts so processes are clear, consistent and auditable.
- Provide business-as-usual support and coordination across end-user device services, including requests, provisioning, lifecycle activities and issue resolution.
- Update model and pricing information, support bill of materials development and track quoting and ordering, and reconcile device management and invoicing systems.
- Produce and analyse service and operational reporting from ITSM and platform tools on performance, compliance and device lifecycle.
- Identify and implement improvements to processes, workflows and service delivery.
- Act as a bridge between project delivery and BAU operations, working with technical, security and operational teams.
Required profile
- Proven experience in endpoint management, service operations or service transition, ideally across a diverse device ecosystem.
- Good understanding of ITIL service management practices.
- Experience with ITSM platforms and relevant operational toolsets.
- Familiarity with security and compliance requirements, including assurance and validation activities.
- Customer focus and vendor management skills are a must.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Minimum Basic Clearance (BC), also known as a DSC or NZDF-initiated police check; the employer will wait for the right candidate to obtain it, estimated at around 2 months, and an existing, immediately usable clearance is an advantage.
