Operations Manager

About the role

Alloy Bearings Limited is seeking an Operations Manager to lead day‑to‑day workshop activities in Wellsford, Auckland. This hands‑on position ensures jobs are delivered on time, to the required quality, and within cost targets while driving practical improvements across manufacturing and refurbishment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily operations across inspection, foundry and machine‑shop teams.
• Plan and schedule jobs to optimise throughput, capacity and on‑time delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, workflow and cost control.
• Manage production KPIs such as OTIF, productivity, rework and margin per job.
• Maintain quality standards for critical tolerance components.
• Oversee maintenance and utilisation of plant and equipment.
• Develop and mentor supervisors and leading hands.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering to align production with customer requirements.
• Improve systems, reporting and operational visibility.
• Uphold a strong health & safety culture and ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations or production management within manufacturing.
• Background in heavy engineering, machining or industrial environments.
• Track record of reducing lead times and solving throughput challenges.
• Ability to lead a team of ~30 staff, including direct reports.
