Network Architect

About the role

FNZ is seeking a talented Network Architect to join its Global Architecture team in Wellington. You will lead network architecture activities for the APAC region, designing scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that align with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve enterprise‑wide network architecture, standards, patterns, and processes.
• Lead the Network Architecture Design Authority and contribute to strategic planning and governance.
• Collaborate with business units to embed network requirements in new systems and applications.
• Work with Network Engineering teams to trial and deploy infrastructure and tooling.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
• Align network architecture with broader infrastructure, security, identity, and application strategies.
• Support automation, observability, and telemetry integration across network platforms.
• Ensure designs meet performance, scalability, and security requirements in hybrid environments.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Network Architect in financial services, corporate, or fast‑paced environments.
• Proven track record of leading network transformation initiatives.
• Strong ability to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, cost‑effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Self‑starter who can work autonomously and grow within the role.

Required skills

• Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, traffic engineering, EVPN.
• SD‑WAN and SASE architectures.
• Network segmentation and VRF design.
• Overlay and fabric technologies: VXLAN, Megaport, Equinix Fabric.
• F5 Distributed Cloud, F5 LTM/GTM (highly desirable).
• Firewall technologies: FortiGate, Check Point, NSX DFW.
• Network virtualization: NSX‑T.
• Observability and telemetry.
• Network automation/orchestration: Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines.
• Cloud networking: AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Network security design and zero‑trust principles.
