Mental Health Support Worker – Paraparaumu

About the role

IDEA Services provides specialist mental health supported accommodation for adults with complex care needs. As a Mental Health Support Worker you will join a 24/7 team delivering personalised care, collaborating with local health and community services to help residents achieve their goals.

Key responsibilities

• Support residents to set and achieve personal goals.
• Manage medication safely and accurately.
• Build confidence and independence in daily living skills.
• Facilitate participation in meaningful activities and community connections.
• Explore new opportunities for personal growth and independence.
• Assist residents in making decisions about their own lives.
• Provide mobility and personal care support when required.

Required profile

• Experience in disability or mental health support is valued, but relevant life experience, resilience and empathy are also welcome.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and occasional overnight shifts.
• Calm, patient approach with confidence supporting complex or challenging behaviours.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical capability to safely assist with mobility and personal care.
• Full New Zealand driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency using computers and tablets for documentation and communication.
