Maintenance Engineer (Dunsandel)

About the role

Synlait is seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to join its Consumer Engineering team at the Dunsandel dairy processing site. You will be responsible for keeping critical plant and processing equipment running safely, reliably and efficiently, supporting production, quality and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on dairy processing and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical or electrical faults quickly to minimise downtime.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns independently and as part of the engineering team.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement projects that boost plant reliability and performance.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety and food‑safety standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving to prevent recurring issues.

Required profile

• Trade qualification (minimum Level 4) as a Mechanical Fitter, Electrician or equivalent.
• Previous experience in dairy, FMCG, food manufacturing or processing environments.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault‑finding capability.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and follow rotating day/night shifts.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with an understanding of food safety and quality systems.
