Infrastructure Cloud Engineer

About the role

As an Infrastructure Cloud Engineer at Avanade, you will design, build and support Azure cloud infrastructure for complex enterprise programmes across New Zealand. Based in Auckland, you will work within a multidisciplinary delivery team to ensure environments are secure, reliable and optimised for performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage Azure cloud infrastructure for enterprise client programmes.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, ARM templates or Terraform.
• Configure and manage Azure networking components such as Virtual Networks, NSGs, VPN Gateways and ExpressRoute.
• Provision and administer Azure platform services including virtual machines, storage, databases and container services.
• Implement cloud security controls including Azure Policy, RBAC, Microsoft Defender and Azure Monitor.
• Support CI/CD pipeline development and automation using Azure DevOps.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, respond to incidents and drive continuous improvements.
• Document designs, runbooks and operational procedures and collaborate with architects and development teams.

Required profile

• 4–8 years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering or DevOps.
• Strong hands‑on experience delivering Azure infrastructure solutions.
• Detail‑oriented with a commitment to secure, reliable and well‑documented infrastructure.
• Effective communicator who works well in multidisciplinary project teams.

• Microsoft Azure services: Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, App Services.
• Infrastructure as Code: Bicep, ARM Templates, Terraform.
• Azure networking: VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, Load Balancers, Application Gateway.
• Azure security: Azure AD/Entra ID, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Key Vault.
• CI/CD and DevOps: Azure DevOps or equivalent.
• Scripting: PowerShell, Python.
