Indirect Tax Manager

About the role

PwC New Zealand is seeking a Manager or Senior Manager to join its market‑leading Indirect Tax team in Auckland. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality GST and customs advisory services, helping clients navigate complex cross‑border transactions, property developments, and tax governance challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead GST advisory engagements and provide commercially focused advice.
• Research and apply tax legislation to complex GST issues, producing written and verbal recommendations.
• Oversee GST compliance and review assignments, including return preparation.
• Identify, assess, and manage indirect tax risks through reviews, controls assessments, and data‑analytics solutions.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding objectives and delivering tailored solutions.
• Mentor junior team members and support their technical development.
• Collaborate with specialists across Tax, Deals, Assurance, and Consulting to deliver integrated solutions.
• Contribute to business development, thought leadership, and market engagement activities.

Required profile

• Significant experience in indirect tax, especially GST/VAT advisory, gained in New Zealand or internationally.
• Background in a Big Four, professional services, advisory, legal, or corporate tax environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with clear communication of complex concepts.
