Executive Finance Manager / Chief Finance Officer

About the role

Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua is seeking a senior finance leader to serve as Chief Finance Officer. The role combines strategic financial oversight with a commitment to advancing iwi growth and intergenerational prosperity. You will work on‑site in Whangarei Central, driving financial strategy, governance and investment decisions that support the organisation’s purpose‑driven mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide executive‑level financial leadership and shape long‑term financial strategy.
• Oversee governance, risk management and compliance across all financial activities.
• Lead investment planning, capital allocation and growth initiatives aligned with iwi aspirations.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to influence sustainable economic development and intergenerational wealth.
• Ensure accurate reporting, budgeting and forecasting to support informed decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior finance or CFO roles within complex organisations.
• Strong understanding of financial governance, investment management and strategic planning.
• Demonstrated ability to lead finance teams and influence organisational direction.
• Commitment to kaupapa Māori principles and community‑focused outcomes.
