Design Estimator – Power Distribution Networks

About the role

Downer’s Networks Services team in Tauriko is looking for a Design Estimator to support the design and estimation of electricity distribution projects across New Zealand. You will work on both overhead and underground networks, producing accurate designs, quotations and project documentation while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver design and estimation services for distribution network projects.
• Prepare quotations, cost estimates and as‑built documentation.
• Coordinate resources and support project planning and delivery.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and contractors.
• Support continuous improvement and mentor junior members of the design team.

Required profile

• Design and estimation experience in power distribution networks.
• Hands‑on knowledge of overhead and underground design or construction.
• Familiarity with electricity distribution equipment, materials and engineering design standards.
• High level of computer literacy and experience with estimation applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication, time‑management and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Neara for overhead line design (desirable).
• Estimation software proficiency.
