Coordinator Pharmacist (Medical Team)

About the role

Wellington Regional Hospital is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic pharmacist for a part-time (24 hours per week, 0.6 FTE) position as Medical Team Coordinator Pharmacist, covering a period of parental leave starting in early December 2026. The role sits within the clinical pharmacy service and covers the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical services to a caseload of patients
• Support junior members of staff in providing care to their patients
• Perform some operational duties on a rostered basis
• Work closely with the Clinical Team leader and the Surgical Team Coordinator Pharmacist to coordinate clinical pharmacy coverage across the district
• Act as a role model and provide support, advice and education to the pharmacy department and other healthcare professionals
• Supervise the activities of Foundation Pharmacists, interns and trainees, and may carry out delegated staff management tasks

Required profile

• Previous hospital pharmacy experience
• Ability to work with staff from a variety of healthcare professions
• Self-motivated in developing clinical and professional practice, and keen to learn about all aspects of hospital pharmacy
• Registered as a pharmacist in New Zealand, or eligible to register
