Assistant Finance Business Partner

About the role

The University of Auckland is seeking an Assistant Finance Business Partner to join OneFinance, a fixed-term position running until 31 December 2027. It suits an aspiring finance professional who wants to broaden their management accounting and business partnering experience in a large, complex organisation. The role works closely with Finance Business Partners and key stakeholders to provide financial analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting support.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Business Partnering team in building relationships across the Faculty so that customer needs and expectations are understood and managed.
• Support consolidated financial services for the Faculty, including business intelligence, financial services and financial administration, and help Finance Business Partners with a range of finance activities.
• Support the development of finance strategies and frameworks aligned with the University's strategic aims, balancing local and organisation-wide requirements.
• Help Finance Business Partners build a high-performing function, working with finance team members, customers and stakeholders.

Required profile

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline (or currently working towards one).
• Sound understanding of management accounting principles and accounting best practice.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate financial information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Experience as an Assistant Accountant, Project Analyst or in a similar finance role is mentioned as a possible starting point.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; Power BI experience is advantageous.
• Experience with ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP or Oracle is desirable.

• Salary of NZ$73,400 to NZ$90,700 depending on skills and experience.
