Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

In this senior technical position you will lead the development, optimisation and oversight of cybersecurity tools and practices across the university. Acting as a trusted subject‑matter expert, you will blend hands‑on engineering with strategic guidance to improve the institution’s security posture and support a resilient digital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and optimise enterprise‑wide cybersecurity tools and platforms.
• Design, implement and continuously improve security architecture, controls and risk‑management processes.
• Provide expert advice on cyber risks, compliance requirements and emerging threats.
• Partner with IT and business teams to embed security into systems, applications and processes.
• Support incident response, disaster‑recovery planning and security documentation.
• Promote a strong security culture through training, communication and guidance.

Required profile

• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM or Azure/Microsoft Security.
• Extensive experience in senior cybersecurity roles, including vulnerability management.
• Deep knowledge of security tooling, network security, threat detection and risk management.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks, protocols and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset aligned with an inclusive university culture.
