Project Manager – Road Network Management

About the role

WSP is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead major road maintenance and network management projects across New Zealand. The role will be part of the national Transport team, collaborating with offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton to deliver high‑quality infrastructure solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare project scopes, briefs, fee estimates and delivery plans for road network projects.
• Manage tasks, schedules and reporting systems to ensure projects are on time, within budget and meet quality standards.
• Oversee project financials, invoicing and profit targets in line with the Business Plan.
• Engage proactively with clients, contractors, consultants and internal teams to meet project standards, timelines and cost constraints.
• Communicate project status, risks and decisions to clients and senior leadership.
• Coordinate activities across business sections to achieve technical quality and client satisfaction.
• Support line managers in staff training and development.
• Develop WSP’s strategic relationship with the New Zealand Transport Agency for asset management services.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale transport or road infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of asset and network performance management.
• Ability to manage project finances, budgets and profitability.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and risk management skills.
