Principal Engineer – SAP

About the role

ASB is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead SAP initiatives within its Core Tribe, which delivers the bank’s real‑time transactional services. You will guide a migration project, modernising legacy banking products onto the SAP Fioneer Transactional Banking (TRBK) platform.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders, delivery squads and the Customer Experience Owner to design high‑level technical solutions that meet business requirements and non‑functional requirements.
• Work closely with BAs, architects, and the wider SAP team to deliver efficient solutions on the SAP Fioneer TRBK platform while ensuring compliance with ASB and APRA controls.
• Partner with suppliers, vendors and external partners to support the SAP platform and champion the migration of legacy products.
• Identify optimisation opportunities using standard TRBK and BTP out‑of‑the‑box functionalities.
• Conduct audits to maintain a clean core platform and contribute to SAP Focus Area efficiency initiatives.
• Provide thought leadership on core modernisation and SAP best practices.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience designing and delivering SAP solutions, preferably in banking services.
• Strong background in SAP Banking Services and ability to mentor functional engineers, developers and testers.
• Proven track record of delivering customer‑focused outcomes with a growth mindset.
