Press and Information Officer

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Wellington is seeking a Press and Information Officer (Local Agent Group I) to support public diplomacy, media relations and information activities. Reporting to the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section, you will help raise the EU’s profile in New Zealand and act as a key liaison with local and EU stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance the EU’s visibility in New Zealand.
• Organise events, public‑diplomacy activities and official visits of the Head of Delegation and EU Member State representatives.
• Plan, manage and report on media engagements, press conferences and press releases.
• Contribute to the Delegation’s website and social‑media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Liaise with educational, academic and parliamentary friendship groups, and coordinate the EU Visitors Programme.

Required profile

• Strong interest in European Union affairs, diplomacy and public communication.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team and handle occasional atypical working hours.
• Experience in event planning, media liaison and stakeholder coordination.
