Press and Information Officer

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Wellington seeks a Press and Information Officer to support public diplomacy, media relations and information activities. Reporting to the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section, you will help raise the EU’s profile in New Zealand and act as a liaison with local and EU stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the EU’s visibility in New Zealand.
• Organise events, public‑diplomacy activities and official visits of the Head of Delegation and EU Member State representatives.
• Plan, manage and report on media initiatives, including press conferences and press releases.
• Edit publications produced by the Delegation and contribute to its website and social‑media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Liaise with educational and academic institutions and support the EU‑New Zealand parliamentary friendship group.
• Coordinate the European Union Visitors’ Programme and other outreach programmes.

Required profile

• Strong interest in EU affairs, public diplomacy and international relations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team and adapt to occasional atypical working hours.
