Press and Information Officer – EU Delegation, Wellington

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Wellington seeks a Press and Information Officer to support public diplomacy, media relations and information activities. Working under the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section, you will help raise the EU’s profile in New Zealand and act as a liaison for EU‑New Zealand parliamentary and visitor programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Create and implement strategies to enhance the EU’s visibility in New Zealand.
• Organise events, public‑diplomacy activities and official visits of the Head of Delegation and EU Member State representatives.
• Plan, manage and report on media‑related activities, including press conferences and press releases.
• Edit publications produced by the Delegation and contribute to the website and social‑media channels (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn).
• Liaise with education and academic institutions and coordinate the EU‑New Zealand parliamentary friendship group.
• Serve as the Delegation’s point of contact for the European Union Visitors’ Programme.

Required profile

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment with occasional atypical working hours.
• Strong organisational skills to manage events and visits.
• Excellent written communication for editing publications and preparing briefings.
