Operations Manager – Coil, Purlins & ComFlor

About the role

This senior leadership position drives manufacturing excellence for coil, purlins and ComFlor products within New Zealand’s leading steel solutions provider. Reporting to the General Manager – Roll Forming, you will oversee production, scheduling and commercial outcomes while leading a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on leadership of roll forming, coil slitting and service centre operations to meet quality, cost and on‑time delivery targets.
• Lead and develop production, business development and admin staff to achieve strong financial performance, safety results and employee engagement.
• Collaborate with the Business Development team to grow revenue, align supply chain activities and maintain customer relationships.
• Embed Lean, Theory of Constraints (TOC) and continuous‑improvement practices to optimise cycle times and inventory accuracy.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and monthly reports while ensuring superior asset management and customer service.

Required profile

• Extensive manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in roll forming, steel processing or similar make‑to‑order environments.
• Proven ability to manage plant operations, scheduling and commercial performance.
• Strong commercial acumen and people‑leadership skills.
• Track record of implementing process improvements and supporting sales growth.
