About the role
StaplesVR is expanding its operations as it prepares for a Series A capital raise. The Office Manager will ensure the smooth, efficient, and compliant operation of the Auckland head office, supporting finance, HR, health & safety, governance, and communications.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee finance and payroll operations, including AP/AR, reconciliations, budgeting, and cash‑flow tracking.
- Coordinate payroll processing and ensure compliance with New Zealand employment and tax legislation.
- Manage supplier contracts, invoicing, expense approvals, and delegated financial authorities.
- Maintain seamless office operations – facilities, IT coordination, security, and asset registers.
- Support HR functions such as onboarding, employee records, leave management, performance cycles, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Administer health, safety, and compliance activities, including hazard registers and incident reporting.
- Provide governance and executive support – board coordination, minute taking, statutory filings, and CEO/leadership administration.
Required profile
- Previous experience as an Office Manager, preferably in a start‑up or SME environment.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with high attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to support stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience supporting senior leadership teams and board functions (desired).
- Sound understanding of NZ employment, tax, and health & safety compliance.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Experience with Xero or equivalent accounting software.
- Familiarity with HRIS/payroll systems such as Smartly (desired).
